Ngapali Beach

Thandwe is a town and major seaport in Rakhine State, the westernmost part of Myanmar and the nearest town to Ngapali Beach.

Ngapali is the premier beach destination in Myanmar. Given its name, some say, by a homesick Italian, Ngapali (coming from Napoli) boasts 3km of palm-fringed sands on the beautiful Bay of Bengal in the Indian Ocean. The turquoise waters are perfect for swimmers, snorkelers and divers and provide fresh fish that gives the area the reputation of having some of the country’s best food. It has moved steadily upmarket in recent years and is not such a good place for travellers on a budget. It does however, have a very good nearby golf course.

Getting there: The best way of getting to the Beach is by plane to the local airport.
