If time is short or you are adding a trip to Myanmar into a longer itinerary of travels in Asia, this could be the perfect choice for you.  You will experience 8 days of seeing many of the 'must see' spectacular sites of this extraordinary country.

You start your adventure in the capital of Myanmar, Yangon. A developing city, Yangon boasts many sites to delight the modern traveler into the awe inspiring Pagoda complex of Schwedagon, arguably the most beautiful Pagoda in the whole of Asia. On your third day, you will take a flight to Bagan where you will visit the busy Nyaung Oo Market. You will also explore the Bagan’s most distinctive pagodas such as Shwezigon, a prototype of later Myanmar stupas. After a fascinating day, your guide will find the perfect spot on Mt Popa to watch a spectacular panoramic sunset view over the temples.

The next stage of the tour takes you to a totally different area of Myanmar, to Inle Lake. Here you will take a private motorboat onto the lake where you will see the stilt houses of the local people and if you are lucky, get to spot some of the many rare birds that live in this area. A short walk from the Lake takes you to the village where the Indainn people live. Here you can see how the indigineous people live in their village in the daily lives. You will learn about the local culture and religion.

And then sadly, it is back to Yangon after an exciting tour of this magnificent country.

Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Arrival at Yangon Airport

You tour starts on your arrival at the airport where you will be welcomed by your guide and taken to your hotel. Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, is a relatively quiet and charming city. Its impressive colonial and spiritual heritage makes it one of the most fascinating cities in Southeast Asia. Dinner at hotel.

Overnight in Yangon.

Day 2: Yangon

After breakfast at the hotel, we start the sightseeing tour of Yangon. Sightseeing features are the beautiful Kandawgyi Lake, Botataung Pagoda which is hollow and through which you can walk and see many ancient relics and artifacts. 

The afternoon sightseeing includes colossal reclining Buddha Chaukhtatkyi Pagoda. Finish your tour today with a visit to the awe-inspiring Shwedagon Pagoda, which towers over all of Yangon. It is perhaps the most beautiful pagoda complex in all of Asia and is one sight that no visitor to Myanmar should miss. Lunch and dinner at local restaurant.

Day 3: Yangon - Bagan

This morning there is transport arranged to take you back to the airport to fly to Bagan. Our sightseeing tour in Bagan starts at the busy Nyaung Oo Market; and Bagan’s most distinctive pagodas such as Shwezigon, a prototype of later Myanmar stupas; Wetkyi-in- Gubyaukgyi, a 13th century ‘cave temple with interesting fine frescoes.

In the afternoon, we explore the Ananda Pagoda, one of the finest, largest and best persevered in Old Bagan followed by Ananda Ok Kyaung, one of the few surviving brick monastery buildings from the Early Bagan period and Htilominlo Temple, which is known to be the last Myanmar Style temple built in Bagan.

As the sun goes down we will be at one of the ideal viewing sites selected by our tour guide for a panoramic sunset view over the temples. Lunch and dinner at local restaurant.

Day 4: Bagan

Continuing our tour of Bagan, we start off at the  Manuha Temple, which was built by King Manuha to represent his displeasure of captivity, Nanpaya close behind the Manuha and which is also Bagan's first "gu-style" (cave) shrine. Then, visit a lacquer ware craft shop to see the process of hand-making these beautiful pieces.

In the afternoon, visit the small local village of Phwar Saw where you can meet a local farmers and their families to learn about the village life.  Enjoy a walkabout in a village, where you can see the traditional ways of life still carried on such as weaving cotton by hand, grinding peanut oil with oxen, the care of various farm animals etc. As the sun goes down we will be at one of the ideal viewing sites selected by our tour guide for a panoramic sunset view over the temples. Lunch and dinner at local restaurant.

Overnight in Bagan.

Day 5: Bagan - Inle Lake

After an early breakfast, we take you to the  airport and transfer to Heho and then take a drive to Nyaung Shwe, the gateway village to Inle Lake. Along the way, stop at the wooden Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery which features beautiful carvings and a collection of Buddha images.

On reaching Inle Lake, we board a private motorboat to head out to the center of the Lake. This is  one of Myanmar’s most spectacular sights. Pass villages built on stilts over the lake, inhabited by the local Intha people. Observe the leg-rowing fishermen and see their floating gardens built up from strips of water hyacinth and mud and anchored to the bottom with bamboo poles.

 

We visit Nga Hpe Chaung Monastery, which houses dozens of Shan Buddha Images. Continue to Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the lake’s main sanctuary which contains five sacred Buddha images covered in gold leaf.  You can also explore the local crafts of Inle Lake with a stop at the weaving village of Inpawkhone and a cheroot factory, where the typical Burmese cigars are made by hand. Lunch at local restaurant and dinner at hotel.

Day 6: Inle Lake - Indainn - Inle Lake

From the middle of the lake, we continue down a small canal leading to the Pa-oh village of Indainn. We leave our boat and take a short walk to Inainn where you can stroll around the village, visit a local school. You can also walk through the beautiful Alaung Sitthou area and climb the covered stairway to the top of a hill, which is covered with picturesque ancient stupas and has magnificent views of the lake below. Lunch at local restaurant and dinner at hotel.

Day 7: Inle Lake - Yangon

Today you transfer by air back to Yangon. On arrival, we pay a visit the downtown area. And from there, we walk along the Pansodan Street, which has many large colonial buildings which are still in use. It is also interesting to see the sidewalk markets including those selling old books and magazines dated from the 1960’s up to the present.

In the afternoon, we visit the famous Scott Market (it is closed on every Monday and public holidays), a sprawling complex built in 1926 and noted for its variety of handicrafts and other items, which provides an excellent opportunity for a shopping spree. Lunch and dinner at restaurant.

Day 8: Departure

You can take breakfast at the hotel and are then free to rest or explore at your leisure untill your transfer tine for your departure flight.
